Be very careful about how many you buy before trying them in the vintage guns. I ordered three flats of them several years ago on the same thought as you, that the lower pressures would be great in my vintage 12 ga. guns. I found that they misfire at an alarming rate in all my vintage guns except two, both hammer guns. I've tried them in several Foxes, L C Smiths....... even in a Browning BSS, and a MX8 Perazzi. Many, many misfires. I have deduced that the rim shape on the shell head allows them to sit a tiny bit deeper in the chambers than any other shell I've ever tried. This causes light primer strikes. The primer will be dented very slightly but will not ignite. My two hammerguns will fire them with 100% reliability, however. I have read reports that others have had this same issue with them, in a wide variety of guns.

They're great, soft-shooting loads that kill doves well, but are limited in what they can be used in. I would really like to find out that they have changed the rim/head dims so that this is no longer an issue.

I have been using them for a couple of years, both new and reloaded, in a Jeffery boxlock, a Greener hammer gun, and a Garbi, and never had a misfire. However, when I recently tried the reloads in a Greener Empire, the extractor rode up over the rims in two out of twelve shots, jamming the shells in the chamber.

I measured them with a dial caliper and compared them to my measurements of several other brands. The ones I have are definitely of a different rim shape and dimension than the other brands.

Thanks for your experiences. I wanted to try in Webley Scott circa 1967 weight 6 lb 2 oz. use 7/8 oz Extra Lite powder reloads for skeet, but thought #7.5 shot in the B &P shell would be good for dove and wild bobs in West Texas. As mentioned above don’t think they are currently imported/ available

Speaking of head demison problems I fought through a flat of 20 gauge Fiocchi at the World Skeet Championships. Roughly 30% stuck in the chamber of a set of well used tubes. Fiocchi purchased BP this year.

I have shot them in my Purdey, Atkin and Boss with great results. Hear B&P may start up here in the US since they were bought by Fiocchi

Maybe I just got a bad production run of them, but a range owner in PA told me he saw a lot of misfires with them, too.

Just reporting back on my use of these shells. I was able to run 200 through my pair of Boss SxS at sporting clays with zero misfires or head space issues. These I purchased in October of '21 right after I saw this post. I just checked and they are not available at Natchez currently.

Agree all around. I have shot these in all my English guns, either 2 3/4 or 2 1/2. No problems with them at all. I prefer the 7/8 ounce loads though.

I have shot 30 + flats (conservative estimate) of the B&P Comp One 12ga 7/8 oz 1160 fps loads over the past 5 years in several English boxlocks, a Piotti, 2 different Perazzis, a CSMC 21 & a Blaser F16 w/o issue. That said, an acquaintance of mine had some FTF issues in a Perazzi a few years ago w/ the same load so there may have been a bad lot of them out there.

I do know many other people who like & shoot that load & I hope Fiocchi will continue to make it. The only load I like as well is the Clever Mirage Super Target 7/8 oz @ 1180 fps.

I purchased 20 cases on sale of 16ga B&P several years back. Not 1/3 through them and have yet to have an issue with any.
