How well do the RST 16 ga 2 1/2 " ultra-lites and falcon light hulls re-load?

Thanks

Travis

They’re Cheddite hulls, so they load like..well, Cheddite hulls do. Good for a few reloads and then they’re trash. Plastic is really pliable-soft. I’ve been getting about 5 to 7 reloads out of a Hull. Hope this helps.

Yes very helpful. I am just getting into shell reloading so thanks again.

Take a look at Hogdons reloading. There are several loads for RST-Cheddite hulls in 16 2 &1/2. Pb and 7625 are gone but Universal, International, and 20/28 were, and hopefully will be again, available in 3/4 and 7/8. Soft on the shoulder.

I like Winchester 572 powder in these hulls.

Great hull !!
I'm sitting on over 10 pounds of IMR 7625.

IMR SR 7625 19.6gr, Ched. 209, BP/SPTG16, 6,400 PSI 1,125 fps

1, 7/8 or 3/4 oz

This is my load with the RST hulls Travis, and I agree about 5 reloads is the max.
2 1/2 Cheddite hull, 14gr Green Dot, 3/4 oz. shot., BPI SG 16 Sporting wads, and Cheddite Clerinox 209 primers.
Pressure is less than 5500 psi and a buddy chronographed the load at 1185 fps. The RST 3/4 oz. load is listed at only 1100 fps.
There is incomplete combustion in cold weather - not much of an issue here in the desert wink

Drew, what seems to be the temp in F where the combustion issues arise? Gil

Thanks to all for the input.

Gil: unburnt powder below about 70 degrees.

Thanks, Drew. I've had other dirty burning loads that seem to work out okay downrange. Gil

I don't reload 2 1/2", but I've reloaded plenty of the 16ga 2 3/4" Herters (Cheddite) hulls previously sold by Cabela's. Agree with the comments on Cheddite hulls. I use 20/28 and DR-16 wads. The hulls reload well, but you won't get many reloads out of them.
