With reloading supplies hard to find, I'd like to use powder that I have on hand...Solo 1250. Contacted Alliance and got loads for AA and STS hulls using wads that I have. However, all loads use CCI209 primers...and I don't think I can get any. I am looking for 7/8 ounce target 12 gauge loads. Can Winchester 209 primers be substituted for the CCI's?

Unless you're loading at max pressure, any other mild primer will work just fine. The Fed 209A and CCI209M are hot primers to stay clear of. Yes the Win primers will do.

Thanks Paul. The 7/8 ounce 12 ga loads on the spreadsheet range between 6100 and 7700 PSI with CCI 209 primers.

Cheddite 209s and Winchester 209s are interchangeable, especially with a light for bore payload.

You are very lucky to have solo 1250 handy. It has been out of production for many years. While a great powder, I don’t think it’s the best for light 12 ga loads. You would be better served with Solo 1000, Clays, international clays, red dot and most other faster burn powders. I save my solo 1250 for the sub gauges. But I understand wanting to use what you have on hand.
