While at a shoot the club manager told me he is selling AA410 once fired hulls for .50 each and AA12' s for .10 each. My club burns all 12's and 410's do not hit the ground. How do people justify paying these prices?

I kind of doubt that anybody pays the crazy prices for anything but the lowest volume of pieces.

This is the second or third market upset that I’ve paid attention to in my shooting time, and two things pique my curiosity.

I’ve never run into any of the gougers that seem to have received much benefit from their gouging.
Have any of you ever met some person driving a new Ferrari, because they sold a whole bunch of 9 mm pistol ammunition that they hoarded from the Walmart?

And I’ve never seen any of the hoarders ever come off any of their material.

So, I would be guessing here, but it would appear there are a bunch of Silas Marner’s sitting in their basements surrounded by cartons of ammunition, rubbing their hands together with glee.

And not doing anything with it.


I look forward to seeing the enormous caches of ammunition that people seem to be storing, to come back on the market.

I pick up hulls and brass ( from the ground ) when possible. I don't own a 410, but I can routinely get $25 / 100 hulls ( or better ) for the ones I collect. I am not "making money," but I use the found money to buy parts and pieces I do want.
I may not be driving a Ferrari, but my wife bought an HJ-60 LandCruiser in Canada last year and on our Cannonball Run home from Montana to Virginia, we made 3-4 "gunstore" stops. I scored 7 boxes of Small rifle primers and listed them on Gunbroker. The sales more than paid for the flights and diesel to get the truck home. I haven't seen a primer in a store since, but I didn't need them then and I don't need them now and I sure don't feel guilty for making use of the market. But, all things in moderation... I dabble, and I enjoy it.

200 Rounds Federal 410 Gauge 2.5" $265.00 for eight boxes. That is $33.12 per box plus $15.00 shipping. I would load all they want for $20.00 a box. This from GunBroker a couple weeks ago. Empties, .410, seem to start at .15-.20 each and bid up from there but there have been a few real extreme prices paid for them lately, just not by me.

I think it's time for me to unload some of those hulls I've been saving up.

Joe you have me by three pounds. Have you noticed that just about all loads for PB have been dropped by Hodgdon web site? Glad I have most on hand already. The end of 800X caught me by surprise and I had to scramble to find enough to last me for a few more years. I wish Hodgdon would bring a special run of discontinued powders out ever five years of so because some of the discontinued powders are not really replaced by what is in production. If they would just run powders once every four or five years many of us could stock up and never miss a beat.

I saw 2 8# containers of PB at Tulsa for $400 ea. I considered it to make up some old recipe low pressure loads, but just couldn’t do it. Not sure if they sold or not, but that’s what I saw

I'm sitting on a mere 12 pounds of PB, picked up from a fellow gun club member who had aged out. It will suffice for my low pressure 12 gauge loading for the rest of my days.

Have quite a few 1 lb cans of 2F BP I'll never use. Also some in bulk. Any increased demand?
