I won a bucketlist shotgun yesterday on an online auction. Spencer Bannerman model 1890 12 pump. I'm not a pump fan but any oddball gun with a damascus barrel ticks a box for me.

I believe the barrels are 3 Iron "Oxford". Can you post a close up of the section where the pattern contrast is most apparent?

That gun looks like it has some serious drop!
That is a VERY historic piece.

Congratulations.

One barrel, Drew...

This rather set a trend, and an engineering challenge to remedy it's various faults.

Enter JMB.
I'll post close ups when it's in hand. Most US made guns back then had some serious drop. They shot differently than today.
It appears to have worn a "recoil boot" at one time.
W.M. Talley of Henderson, KY used a Spencer at the 1899 GAH at Live Birds; #191

I think Pat Garrett had one when he was killed.
Too cool!
Pat Garrett had a Burgess

A different model of Burgess. I like that one even better.
