thesemarkings on a Winchester Model 12 from the early 1940's
It seems ".617" stands for 20 gauge, which this gun is.

What about the "74 and the "wjn" above the "Mo" of Model

The guy seemed to love to pound his mark on fine guns.
So do we say that William J. Nittler back-bored this 20 gauge Model 12 from a nominal .651" (20 ga.) to .671" in 1974?
