Even too-warm up here at LOTW in damn-near Canada. Had to buy an air conditioner for my father-in-law's place.

Took my boy and his buddy for a little rural-cultural experience (shooting) a few days ago (12, 20 & .45) and the bugs were fierce. Fishing's even been bit tough. We've been checked by the fish cops twice in two days (first time ever in 20-years!). I take it that Minnesota needs cash to pay for the on-going clean-up in Minneapolis?

Same story over here in Wisconsin's North Woods, Lloyd. They're talking about 90's tomorrow and Saturday. And it looks like not much relief in sight well into next week.

Still better than talking chop in a down town latte establishment.

They say we might even break a record for consecutive 90+ degree days that was set in 1937... long before climate clowns cried about global warming.

But it isn't looking as if we will break the all time record which was set in the 1950's... also long before panicked progressives like rocky mtn bill were certain the world is melting.

It's summer, and it's pretty warm. But I don't have to shovel sunshine, or scrape it off of my windshield either. Seems like yesterday we were reading Ted's thread about walking his dog in minus 30 degree Minnesota weather. It's coming back, so let's enjoy the season.

It was actually -47 in that picture Keith, and that was the daytime high that day. It went on for 3-4 days, and, mercifully ended.

Hope everyone has a real 4th of July, and around these parts, that means hot, and usually, humid, with lots of sun, picnic food, and Wisconsin purchased fireworks.

Best,
Ted

Downstairs AC compressor crapped out on me today. It'll be Tuesday before one is in town. Bought a 200 bux window unit at Best Buy to cool bedroom. I had been thinking of buying the unit for hurricane season when house is on generator which won't pull the HVAC system. Upstairs is fine. The only reason bushes aren't bursting into flame today is the humidity is high. Gil

Set on the porch with a cool drink and something to smoke and jibber jabber with the neighbors about how jacked up the country is like our parents did in the 70’s while they watched us play kick the can.

Not nearly as hot here in GA as it was one year ago. We broke multiple heat records last year. it exceeded 100 in May, and again in October. That's very unusual. We could use some rain now, but low nineties have been about the worst it's been this summer. Maybe a couple of afternoons in the mid nineties but, it's early. We've still got most of July and August to go.

I take my Allison to the river, two miles from my home, on hot weekend afternoons and hang out at a sandbar on the Savannah River with friends. We're having a self sponsored fireworks show there on the 4th. A friend and I went yesterday and bought almost $800 worth of fireworks, and they're going to buy more tomorrow I hear. Gonna be a good time "Sattidy" night. We gonna light up Alligator Alley. The critters ain't gonna know what's happening.

I want to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th, and let us remember it's true meaning.
Hot? I remember how hot Vietnam was during my year in 67-68.
I've never complained about heat again!

I'm going shooting Saturday, and I don't care how hot it is.

Snow blowing season is coming again soon enough.

Beard ice, both of us:

The usual, 1-2 hour winter run. No ticks at -47, but, I was glad when it was over.

Just me, but I’d rather hunt in really cold weather, than really warm weather. The heat is hard on dogs, my Setters are fine in severe cold as long as they don’t get wet.

I did chip a horn forend tip on a Darne, shooting at a pattern board at well below zero. I think twice about that, now. My Dad refinished the stock on a Beretta O/U, glossy ureathane, filled all the pores, rubbed down between coats, glossy as hell.
One side shattered like glass on one of those days.

Still prefer the cold, however.

Best,
Ted

My son Chris suggested I join him and his daughter (my granddaughter) for an after work cool off and some fishing out in Lake Ontario (New York side).

Almost the longest day of the year so should have enough good daylight to maybe get some fish and get cooled off.

Ended up with 3 king (chinook) salmon at 13, 16 and 17 pounds. Also landed a sub legal steelhead and put that back.

Very refreshing but now back in the heat.

I hope all you guys have a Great Independence Day weekend and try to stay cool and comfortable.

And safe.

Nice fish! And what a dead calm evening.

Looks familiar, I grew up in Livingston County and spent a lot of time on Lake Ontario fishing for Salmon and Trout in my teens. Looks like a lovely sunset.

Sunsets this year are compliments of the Sahara desert. They have been beautiful.

The temp down here in South Louisiana is about normal for this time of year. 90's most days, getting close to 100 on some. Typical afternoon thunderstorms. Too windy to run down to the Gulf for fishing. The Sahara dust has been rough on those of us with allergies. C'est la' vie.

So hot here the catfish are already fried when you get them to the boat.
