What is the finish on an Iver Johnson Skeet-er Receiver?
It is blue black but it isn't bluing, it looks like plating of some kind. My I.J. Skeeter has worn the finish away on the bottom of the receiver, can that be replaced?
Thanks, Pete
Mostly the Iver Johnson Skeet-ers had a blue receiver, but there seems to be a late period in their production when the receivers could be color case hardened. Stocks were usually high grade American Walnut, with a thick finish.

Blue

Or case color. Mine are all blue. Case color seems to be rather scarce.

My gun looks like Bob's but its a pistol grip.
The bluing is worn on the bottom and edges, but it doesn't look like bluing, it looks like plating or some kind of coating.

I doubt if that Skeeter belongs to Bob. He probably lifted the pictures from CSMC. Check out the stock pics in his locked "Superlight Upgrade" thread.... where he tries to suggest that the near finished stock shown comes from a totally different stock blank. It appears they aren't even the same species of walnut.

Caveat empetor, et cetera.

Apparently your not too highly thought of in New Britain Connecticut either.

Mine has been blued over original case colors, both are well worn.

Crying Bob... It would be nice if you could also I include a Post-It-Note in the background the next time you post pictures of a gun from CSMC which doesn't belong to you. Then maybe you won't have another embarrassing moment such as when eightbore busted you and called you out.

A Post-It-Note might also come in handy to draw attention away from your recent attempt to suggest that a Browning stock was made from a stock blank with entirely different grain and figure, and is most likely a different species of walnut entirely. Not everyone is fooled by your deceptions. You may now resume your temper tantrum.

P.S.--- It should be "you're", not "your". Did you go to the same school that nca225 did?

sxsman1,
I hope my images helped to answer your question.
I hate to see yet another thread ruined by lying vilhelm's toxic self.
Apologies for the hijacked thread.

Lying keith, do you never tire of being an ass?
How terrible it must be to be you.
Help me to see where I was "busted and called out?
You're psychotic pea brain seems to be working overtime.

Must be magic.... I wish I could transform wood that way!

It appears that DmColonial has been to his Opthamologist, and has not only good vision, but brains as well.

Thanks for posting those before and after pics again Crying Bob. That saved me some time. I know you desperately want us all to believe that the finished stock came from that blank, but it isn't working.

To save myself some from wasting more time on you, just go here and cry your eyes out some more.

You were busted and called out by eightbore when you lifted pics of a gun being sold by CSMC, and posted them here. Another well known guy you hate mentioned that incident in the last week or so. When one poster asked you if you had shot the gun, you chose to not reply. Then eightbore nailed you. I know you'd like us all to believe that never happened too. I hope I never become so pathetic that I become afflicted with some sad need to post pics of guns I don't own, without attribution.
I have not "called out" any post or poster. Keith must be mistaking me for another poster. My only comment was that most Skeeters were blued frames and case color frames were rather scarce.

Shame, shame, shame, caught in yet another lie.
Is it really any wonder why you're known to all as lying keith?

Yes eightbore, I may be mistaken about just who called out Crying Bob when he started a thread and posted pics of a CSMC gun that he didn't own. Sorry about that, but there was no intentional deception involved.

Unfortunately the entire thread was deleted after Crying Bob lost his shit again. This is why I hate to see entire threads deleted. Now, if jOe or someone else who recollects that thread says something, Crying Bob will no doubt call them a liar too.

But that won't change the obvious about Crying Bob's feather crotch black walnut stock blank that miraculously transformed into something entirely different. I took a moment to save those pics just before Dave locked the "Superlight Upgrade" thread because I thought it might get deleted too, and then Crying Bob would have the opportunity to change or PhotoShop the pictures.
Even rocky mtn bill won't bail out Crying Bob on that:

Lying keith, I would tell you the same thing I'd tell anyone from your "party",
You've got to keep your hate straight.

So in addition to being a lying turd, you're also a contortionist.
One foot in your mouth and the other stepping on your micro-d!ck.

This is like being in the middle of a bunch of school girls, all having a hissy fit.
