I would love to have #2 and 3 if avalible.
#1, #4, and #6. If possible.
Generous doing. Thanks for thinking of the fellows, here.

Best,
Ted
Brian, you had a good idea. I have sold quite a few books here and on other boards. I am getting to the point where any more of the books are not moving. I should make a list and do the same as you.
Jim
I'll take number 5 please. Elmer Keith was a great gun writer, even used an Ithaca 10 gauge for pheasants- RWTF
It's going to take a little time to organize my book give away. I probably still have about a hundred hunting books. I have to put a list together. I don't think I could do 1 book at a time. Maybe a minimum of 5 free books which usually can be shipped for $5 by media mail. One of my problems is finding shipping boxes with out having to buy them. Any suggestions?
Jim
Jim, the Priority Mail boxes at the post office are free, and come in various sizes. It will cost more than $5 to ship, however.

I will be watching for the book list. I really enjoy sporting books.

SRH
Members: would you be willing to pay for USPS priority flat rate boxes to get free books? The prices are:
1) envelope - $7.35, good for 1 book, not oversize
2) medium box - $14.35, good for 4 or 5 regular size books
3) large box - $19.95, good for 8 - 10 regular size books and oversize books.
Jim
Of course...Geo
Hi All:
To get free boxes for shipping books ---
walk into the P. O. lobby, select the free priority mail box/envelope.

If you want to use it to ship media mail....just tape on some brown shipping paper over your priority mail container.

Best, Brian
FREE BOXES/padded envelopes for media Ship...

Get the Priority USPS Mail box/pouch @ the post office lobby and cover it with brown wrapping paper prior to media mail ship

-Brian
Yes
Absolutely-- generous offer indeed.. RWTF
I will organize a list of books with these subjects:
1) Upland hunting
2) Tutkey hunting
3) Waterfowl hunting
4) Hunting Dogs
5) Hunting with rifles
6) Safari
7) Fishing
Give me a few days to get the list together.
Jim
Just heads up. USPS will not accept packages covered with brown paper. They would not accept mine, claimed it jams up the automated equipment. They might if it’s 100% covered over with tape.
I argued, went to another post office and was rejected again.
USPS flat rate is a small price to pay for free books.
Jim== what is "Tutkey" hunting? Hummm- I'm interested in almost every genre your list will compass- I may also have a few books for sale, but will wait until after your list is posted so as to avoid a conflict-- I'm not in any hurry- Hell, at age 77- I can't afford to rush. RWTF
I know what you mean, RWTF! I will be 79 in April. Guys, just to wet your appetite, one of the books is written by a famous author that posts regularly on the forum.
I predict a tough market for the sale of books around here. My wife is raising cain about the bookshelf space my stuff is taking up...Geo
Easy solution George- just build more shelves down in the "man cave" that's what I did--worked out fine-- RWTF
Guys, I am posting a list of 74 books I am giving away for shipping cost only. Shipping will be by USPS Priority Flat Rate Envelope ($7.35) or Medium Box ($14.35) or Large Box ($19.95). The rules: post a reply referring to the listing number of the book(s) you would like. I will then PM you to confirm your choice(s), give you the shipping amount, and where to send a check for payment. Please note the books that have been spoken for and are no longer available. Special arrangements need to be made to get a shipping quote for any shipment outside the continental U.S.A.
Thanks, Jim

I would gladly pay the $20 for 8-10 books. I have quite a Library (accumulation) and the thought that they will eventually end up in a burn or compost pile is quite painful. Growing up in Rural Alabama books were some of my best friends and companions.
Number 35 previously sold.
Shipping to Canada is super expensive so after discussing it with Brian I have decided to pass.

I don't know if he had other's requesting those volumes.

Thank you Brian for a generous offer and a great idea.
Yes, here are those 3 again & 4 more: free, you pay media mail cost: First come & first served.

Let me know your picks by reply or PM.

Thanks, -Brian
I am interested in:

1,8,13,28,37,65,71.

Any or all.

Thanks,
Tyler
Brian,
I will gladly pay the shipping for 1 and 5.

Thanks,
Tyler
Tyler, #'s 1,13,28,37 are already taken.
Brian:

I will take #4.
I've sold a few books on Ebay and made the mailers from scrap corrugated board from boxes. I've sent as many as 4 books in one homemade mailer and 5 would probably be no problem. Media mail is CHEAP compared to other shipping methods.

https://www.google.com/search?q=homemade...UTF-8#kpvalbx=1

Edited to add: Yep, I'm cheap and would rather spend my money on shotgun shells than postage.
Jim, #63 please
I'd go to my local True Value hardware store or whatever hardware store you actually buy from and ask them if you can come in on "inventory day" and pick through the leftover boxes they've emptied that morning and when is the best time to come. They will have all sizes and shapes of boxes available. A university bookstore is even better, if you can intercept before the dumpster.

You'll need a big WIDE black marking pen to black out any redundant content labels that the PO won't ship.

I've been shipping used books for the last ten years and haven't paid one cent for packaging material, except tape....

I'm also retired ....and CHEAP. "Close," as my mother's clan would say. A complement in my family.
Still some good books left. Jim
Hi Brian,
I will take #6 please. Let me know the cost, thanks.
Steve
#64 now taken. Jim
