Hello All,

This in a description of a double being auctioned:

"blacked damascus barrels (struck off at the muzzle ends)"

What does "struck off" mean?

Can the blacked barrels be "unblacked"?

Thanks for your patience.

Best,

JC (always learning)

struck off = polished. Striking usually means file work but in this usage it is simply polished bright.

The barrels can be polished then properly browned.
