SIEVERT NIELSEN FROM ZANE GREY engraved on a Winchester '95. Read more about Zane Grey, one of our early 20th century hunters and an author who was known world wide, and his special affairs to the Winchester '95:
SIEVERT NIELSEN FROM ZANE GREY Gunwolf
Thank you. A very interesting and informative writing.
My mother used to love too read Zane Grey.
This rifle reminds me of one I saw in an auction catalog 15-20 years ago. Zane Grey was on a hunting trip with Charlie Russell when Charlie picked up Zane's new Model 95 and scratched a moose onto the receiver. I wasn't really engraving, but it was good enough to add a priceless detail to the rifle. I've often thought it would be hard to come up with a more iconic pair of men unless TR could be worked in.
Precise opposite when I hunted with president of provincial wildlife federation---actually a hunting and fishing group---who lit his pipe from a match scratched on his shotgun's checkering, and shot a duck coming home underway in outboard-powered boat, a regulated no-no.
Brings back many memories of his novels and hunting stories.
Time to check my book cases to see which books I still have.
