Good evening! A good friend of mine recently purchased a Rigby boxlock that has all the London proofs under the 1904-1925 rules. Next to them on the barrel flats, on both sides of the lump, is stamped "Class D". I've never seen such markings before, any ideas?

Rigby made different grades of guns. I wonder if this was their way of marking the grade.

Scott, and Webley & Scott, made many guns 'for the trade'. From what I understand, second quality guns from Best Gun makers were, more than likely, from Webley & Scott. My 'E Quality' Purdey is a dead ringer for its Webley & Scott counterpart.
