I have a Flues model single barrel trap gun, circa 1914, that has a fossilized "Perkins Shock Absorber" pad. Anyone familiar with that pad? It also has a patent number so I will research that when I get a chance.
Advertised in 1915, from Everett, Mass.

Most guns up to CE-Grade would get a Jostam Anti-Flinch, while XE-Grades and higher normally got a leather-faced Silvers or "Silvers type" pad. We see cards where higher grades were ordered with a Jostam Anti-Flinch. I have found cards that specify a Goodrich pad, a Perkins Recoil pad (which I know nothing about), a #6 Recoil Pad (get from Tryon), D & W Pad, Jostam Air-Cushion, Jostam Sponge Rubber pad (pre WW-I it was the Huntley pad), etc. I haven't seen a Hawkins specified until the Savage years, and very late in the Savage years we see a few Whitelines specified.
Thank you Rev. Doc. Drew. As always you are a gentleman and a scholar! I plan on posting a few photos of this high conditioned early treasure. gun
Doggone! Somebody beat me to the idea of a paper tooth "brush". Well, back to the ol' drawing board.
Thanks, Drew.
Looking forward to the pics, Walt.

Since I can't do pictures here since the Photobucket hostage taking, I emailed a Perkins listing from a circa 1916 H&D Folsom Arms Co. catalog to Walter and Drew.
