Over at the PCGA there is a thread about someone stealing some prized shotguns while at a weekend shoot. Who makes a good gun safe for an auto or pickup? I know TruckVault has some nice ones are there any other.
My apologies if this was already posted.

One of the outdoor channel adds was for Tactical systems for pick-ups. I haven't been curious enough to search it out on the web. It did look good.
Best,

I made my own. It fits in the back of my Landcruiser and locks down on the orignal brackets that the rear seats latch onto. The two sliding drawers are each 18" X 40" X 7.5". The whole unit is seam welded 11 gauge steel. The drawer fronts are 11 ga 316 stainless. Each drawer front is backed up 1/4" Astroloy plate. The drawers are secured with Corbin Russwin 6 pin high security cylinders operating high security deadbolt locks with 3/4" X 1" case hardened stainless steel latchbolts. I carpeted the entire unit but the polished SS drawer fronts. I keep 4 doubles in SKB takedown cases in one drawer. Three different gauge shells, 2 vests, 2 E-collars, first aid kit,an insulated coat, chaps, several hats, pairs of gloves, and have room for more. My wire dog crate straps down to the vault. I left the unit in the Landcruiser from Sept. through the end of March. It is sure convenient not to load and unload all that stuff every time we get out. This year I am going to remove the rear seats completely rather than folding them up. I have to make the new vault run from wheel well to wheel well. I'll be adding a third drawer with the extra width. I have to add another crate for my new pup to ride in.
Here is a picture I took last year.

Altho I do not usually attend high profile shooting events, I have traveled with guns for trade. Keep a low profile, watch your vehicle when eating and take your guns in with you for an over-night stay
Keep your eyes open to your surroundings.
...and load one in the room.

I just don't have a lot of sympathy for the gun owners in this case. When I travel with my guns they never leave my control.

We can talk all day about what's right and wrong, but the bottom line is that if you are dumb enough to leave guns in your car overnight, or even for an hour or two, in a motel parking lot then you are asking for trouble.

It's the equivalent of the young girl who gets drunk out of her skull in a trashy bar then wakes up complaining her butt hurts.

I am employed bt a company that produces the weapons vaults for the military and many other government entities. I am familiar with surreptiously opening or breaking into most all units available. I know that all safes can be opened if enough time or knowledge is available. My vehicle is locked in my garage when at home, and in a private secure lot at work. When I get to a cabin or hotel, my guns are taken inside. Most storage lockers only provide a sense of security. Having built this unit myself after 25 years in this business I will say it provides as much security as possible. However nothing is completely safe from a detrmined thief. I would however put my home safe in a category of its own.
