I think there was some isse with corusion within the barrels after the lining was performed. Think eveyone stopped doing it.

Those barrels were too thin to use anyways. They'd have been sleeved or trashed anyways. Not sure why they still could not be sleeved now. The whole point of lining was to save those beautiful Damascus barrel patterns. So it was worth the effort. The cost made it something only for mid to high value guns so they most likely are still worth sleeving.

I've seen a lot of guns on Holts that could only be saved lining to keep those Damascus barrels. Now it's back to using brileys much heavier tubes which ruins the balance or send out for sleeving which restores function but takes away much of the classic looks of Damascus barrels.
