she is my third Springer. last one I had to put down in November at 13 1/2 yrs.
she hasn't had an accident yet in house. always goes when I take her out. crate trained already. has teeth like a shark though!!! LOL

In this photo she just got out of the pool. she swims like a fish!!
loves to ride and is a joy.

What a cutie! I love field bred springers. I have two currently, an old guy who is 14 and a 5 year old female. Enjoy her and have fun!

Congrats,

I enjoyed my 20+ years of Springers. What fun!

Sure is a cute one! My Springer is 10, so I'm headed toward the painful part. She has been a wonderful dog.

You'll have fun with that one, Brian.

Nice looking dog Brian! One of my Springers, named Clyde, has that same no whites in my eyes look. Clyde has been a wonderful dog and retrieves like a Black Lab and just doesn't want to quit. He hunts to the gun and has all the girls whistling at him.

A great looking puppy. You're going to have many wonderful years with her.

Her body spots look liver, her nose looks brown but her face is black. Is she a tri-color?

Our Springer, Jasper, is laying by my feet right now. What would we do without them?

You gotta be happy.

Jolly

That is a fine pup. Bobby

She is liver and white, not a tri color. she is wet and that makes her look dark in face.

Nice looking pup Brian.

I was looking at the kennel website. Some very nice looking and proven dogs there.

I am curious though, as to why they do not dock the tails. Did they mention why when you reserved your pup?
Posted By: SKB Re: New Pup - 07/24/15 12:26 AM
pretty sure those tails are docked, just not short like a bench dog. All my dogs have had docked tails, usually about 6" of tail and another 4" of hair.
Posted By: OldMaineWoodsman Re: New Pup - 07/24/15 12:55 AM
SKB:

That's a good point.

Pretty impressive kennel and lines. Brian should have some fun times with that pup.
Posted By: Ken61 Re: New Pup - 07/24/15 01:54 AM
When I docked the tails on my pups, I'd generally leave at least two more vertebrae than what was typical for show dogs. If possible, I'd dock so the tip was white, enabling the hair to grow long into a "Flag"...
Posted By: Brian Re: New Pup - 07/24/15 08:33 PM
Her tail is docked. For actual Field Bred Springers, they only take no more than the last third off.
Bench dogs have that stub tail. Field bred breeders and owners really feel the field bred springer is a different bred. if you put a bench dog next to a field bred dog, the differences are readily apparent in most cases.
In the UK, as far as I know, they no longer dock tails at all.
besides you want that flag when they are in the brush working their butts off for you!

I have a copy, thanks anyway.

Great looking pup.

I got my first hunting dog, a field bred springer, in February.

Take a lot of pictures and make a lot of videos now; they grow up so fast!

I'll have to pick up Rough Shooting Dog; it sounds great.

Which is best?

My error, there is only one.
Posted By: Brian Re: New Pup - 08/18/15 01:26 AM
UPDATE:
she is doing water retrieves off the dock at 3 months. Using a puppy size training dummy. she lays right out off the dock and goes 20 yards and grabs it.

You should move to Texas. In Texas if it is true it is not considered bragging.

Glad your pup likes her job!

how do I post a video? I have it in photobucket and copied it to paste like a photo but it doesn't open

If a good puppy like that does not put a smile on your face and warm your heart you most likely are near death.
Posted By: Remington40x Re: New Pup - 08/21/15 06:28 PM
Wow, and in addition to all his other skills, he mows the lawn. A most superior pup indeed.
Posted By: Brian Re: New Pup - 09/16/15 05:54 PM
Mollie is making progress. Many thanks to SoTwin, Ghostrider and Wingshooter 16 for the wings and feathers. I have been using the smaller wings to start. She is now working in front of a 410 and knows when she hears a shot, there should be something to retrieve. 4 Months old, I got her at 8 weeks and 12 1/2 lbs. now 4 months and 27 lbs!!!. no rolly polly pup for very long. wonderful personality. drives the wife nuts. steals all of her stuff, barely touches mine. and gets the commensurate reaction from her (yelling, shrieking, hand gesticulations etc.) and that means FUN!!
