The best quality self opener was always made by Bob Turner in Bromsgrove. I haven't spoken to Bob for a long time he may be retired now. He is a very fine gunmaker.
I was once in his work shop and I asked him do you have a welding set? because I couldn't see one. His reply was I don't need one I get it right first time.

There was a wonderful article on Bob Turner written by Vic Venters in one of his "Guncraft" columns in Shooting Sportsman... it was in one of the 2010 spring issues.
