Ken, I can't view those pics???
tim
it says forbidden
Hi Board, just thought that some might be interested in some nice engraving that Mr. Ken is doing for me. Ken has been great to work with always calling me with new ideas and has been very helpful through the entire process. The gun has quail feathers on the top lever and behind the fences. I took my inspiration from an old CHE Parker that one of the members shared with me. The old CHE was a 12 bore with 32" barrels and had beautiful engraving of quail on the bottom. I bet it was quite a quail gun in its time. Things have changed, but 100 years ago a 20 bore was considered an ladies, or youth gauge. Anyhow I thought I would do something similar, but with a modern twist. I'll keep you posted on the progress of this gun
o.k. on my end let me know it you still can't access them
This is what pops up on my screen when I click on the links:

Still no pics!

Wasn't it Ken who engraved Tom C's Repro A1S ?
Sorry Guys, I've tried a couple of different things and it comes up on my computer just fine, but not on any other computer. Where is Chuck Hawk when you need him?
If you have a POP-UP blocker, turn it off to view the pics. HTH,
IM - I would definitely be most interested in seeing these pictures, but they are not coming through with the posts unfortunantely.
If I can be of any help to you in posting them, please contact me at

REMOVE THE XXX's
yes John, I can see them now, although it was not due to pop up blocker settings.
IM - wonderful looking. Really beautiful. I am fond of border work and I like the border surrounding your scroll work. May I ask, who filed the metal for you?
Thanks High$trap How did you do it?
Baron it came this way from Parker Reproductions in the white. I just love the feathers on the fences and on the top lever. Notice the quills on the feathers and the banknote scroll on the frame and the open English on the top of the frame and the chain boarder separating it all. I think Ken has done a great job. I gave Ken some solid ideas and let him run with the rest, this way he has a clear idea of what to do with a lot of wiggle room. Even with this it took several months to come up with the concept. Ken says the more you can give him, the more he can give you. I'll keep the board posted on its progress
Unless its Bulino engraved I really don't like animals on the frame sides, I like it just the way it is. Color casing and you got yourelf something there IM!!!
It'll be Bulino, a pointer and a setter.
That is really something else! I love it. Esp. the left side of the top lever. But all of it is great. Those scrolls are super!
And another picture for my files.
Brent
Superb as usual. Another winner from the Maestro.
Thanks IM. I did indeed notice the feathers on the breech balls (or fences or whatever the heck they are properly called) and the variations in scroll. Also, that those who don't take a close look at the top lever may easily dismiss it as just a feather shape, however an appreciative viewer will be deeply impressed with the extreme detail that Ken put into it. Really something. Not over done, certainly elegant, definitely beautiful and I wish you the best of luck with it.
Case colored or French Greyed when done??
Probably cased colored and then have the case colors mostly removed to reveal the engraving and give the gun the look of an old Parker
Very nice...I, too; like the what Ken has done with the breech balls and the top lever---distinctively cool! Please keep us posted on its progression.
As usual, Mr. Hurst, absolutely stunning. I continue to be amazed that anyone can be so smooth and precise, especially on those gorgous scrolls.
Will anything else be added to the top side of the opening lever? Don't get me wrong, what's there is very nice, it just seems like a lot of open space just begging for some of KH's attention..
Thanks all. BPGuy --- the entire gun will be engraved. There will be bolino dogs on the sides with background scenes. The entire trigger plate will be a canvas for Cal. quail scene along with a certain fence post with a tangle of barbed wire wrapped around it . If room allows, I will place a posted sign on the post. Yes, there will be scroll covering the top tang too. The breech ends of the bbl's will have a wedge of scroll on each tube.
Another very nice piece Mr. Ken!
Beutiful work Ken.
I would like to see what you do with the model 17 you have.
Is it going to be engraved like the F grade model 17?
Pete
Mr.Pete ---- I had planed on doing a modified "F" grade . The origional layout would be the same but done at a higher level And, the critters would all be inlayed in gold. Background in the scroll will be lightly relieved to give added depth to the piece -- however, not as deep as the Germanic engr.
That sounds beautiful. I hope to see it soon.
Pete
