I think that I just figured something out. With Chicago's murder rate soring ahead of every large city in the US, and recent events that you probably have seen on the MSM that gun control should be able to help such a city out.

OH, you say they did that already???

Well heck, ban them again, it just must not have taken the first time! (TIC)

As a former resident of Illinois; There's only two groups that have firearms in Chicago the cops that obviously can't be everywhere and the criminal element that wouldn't think of obeying Chicagos laws. This leaves the bulk of the population which is honest and lawabiding essentially defenseless.
That's one of the reasons I was relieved to see Chicago "In my rearview mirror" 14 years ago. This whole sitation of a City with a homocide rate out of control supports the premise the "When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns."
I and others have recently taken some flak for our strident position that the November elections will be critical in determining whether this whole Country becomes one big Chicago.
We have to fight this with every means at our disposal so please get out and vote next week.
REMEMBER Barack Obama comes out of the Democrat Chicago City machine and his views are essentially the same as Mayor Richie Daley one of the most anti-gun City officials in this Country.

Amen to that Italian S/S! The King of Chicago, Richard Daly, seeks to blame the Chicago murder rate on people who own guns. Not criminals, mind you, (a voting block of gangbangers, drug pushers, and lowlifes) but law abiding folks who own guns. This pigheaded hypocrite ought to be ousted from office and would be if the Sheeple ever get up enough guts to throw him out. He and all Cook County Chicago Dems. represent the very dregs occupying political positions. I think you can safely assume that Obama is cut from the same cloth. When Daly roars, Obama will bow to him. Chopperlump

The great Obama will have all the guns locked or melted in short time.
FACT: Barack Obama has endorsed a complete ban on handgun ownership.

FACT: Barack Obama opposes Right to Carry laws

Barack Obama supports local gun bans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities.

I was just reading yesterday in the local paper, about the crime rate in Chicago. More deaths this year than in Iraq.

Evidently defending yourself is also verboten according to Obama

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=29208

Speaking of self-defense, Obama is completely opposed to that as well. In the decades before the Heller decision, many parts of Chicago put handgun bans in place that necessitated making the use of a handgun for self-defense illegal. (Think about it -- how could you legally use an illegal tool to protect yourself?) Proving he meant it when he said states, cities, and municipalities should be able to regulate and restrict the Second Amendment, Obama supported these unconstitutional bans when a 2003 case in Wilmette, Ill. provided him the opportunity to stand up for the “individual right” he also claims to support.

What happened in Wilmette was simple: a citizen “used a handgun to defend himself from a dangerous repeat offender.” He killed the attacker, and although the killing was ruled an act of self-defense, the innocent man faced jail time for having used a handgun to defend himself. Many Illinois lawmakers realized that such a charge was illogical and moved to change the law so as to allow the use of a handgun for self-defense. And guess what? -- Obama opposed the change in legislation (four times). Did you get that? -- OBAMA OPPOSED LAWS THAT ALLOWED USING HANDGUNS FOR SELF-DEFENSE

People still can't understand why the ATA moved the Grand American to Illinois from Vandalia, Ohio. (other than the fact that the people in the Dayton area wouldn't get off their butts and find another place)

All the while Obama and his family hide behind armed security at tax payer expense. If a Secret Service agent shot and killed an attacker and saved Obama's life, or any other high level government official, they would pin a medal on his chest.

If a civilian shot and killed an attacker saving his own life and that of his family in Chicago, Obama would have him sent to jail.

If Obama opposes laws that allow the carrying of handguns for self defense does that mean he will sack all his protection team if he get to be President? Lagopus.....

Nope, the government exempts themselves from such laws. Some animals are more equal than others...

Since I've moved to Texas I rarely hunt or even shoot anymore, too expensive. It's hard to beat Illinois put & take hunting at $10 a burd (around Houston you're looking at "1/2 day hunting packages" costing $500-600) or sporting clays at $15 per 50 or $25 per hundred (around Houston it's $38 for 50). On the other hand, I absolutely despised and hated Illinois gun laws and feel the gun laws here in Texas make much more sense. It's ironic that I can't afford to enjoy my guns here. It makes my dog sad too. S__t...

To all you Texans, I have to apologize for the above, posting. You see, I’m under a lot of stress lately with money, work and health issues (both my wife’s health issues and now my own). In the past, my major stress relievers were hunting and clays shooting. Now because of the money stressor my favorite stress relievers have been pretty much denied. I really do like Texas and Texans a lot, people don’t get much better then they do here in Texas. So again, I apologize for the above post, it’s just my frustrations with my current situation coming out.

You don't have anything to apologize for, Rockdoc. You are not the only one who is madder than he-- because of all the bullcrap that has been done to us Americans. But, I do hope that you and your family are OK. I hope that your wife gets well soon. Sometimes I just go out to the club and sit and drink a cup of coffee and shoot the bull. Things are bad all over. So, you have a right to be angry and upset. Good luck and God Bless.

I cannot remember another time in history when so obvious a miscreant as Obama was the odds on choice for president. Baring a miracle, he will have 4 years to shove Marxism down our throats...unless that is the wrong bodily orifice.

I pray we keep 41 Republican senators.
Posted By: Jimmy W Re: OT Need more gun laws in Chicago! - 10/31/08 07:00 AM
It will be a sad time, come Wednesday, when our next president will be Obama. Personally, I think McCain blew it in more ways than one. I have pretty much been a Republican all my life, but McCain scares me about as much as Obama. I can't remember in the 40 years that I have been voting that we had four bigger nitwits running for the two offices as our choices. It's like I tell people, we can vote for one and lose our guns or we can vote for the other- go into a depression and end up having to sell our guns for pennies on the dollar because we have lost everything. Lose our guns or depression and lose our guns. That's the choice. Hmmmmmmmmm..........
Posted By: Tyler Re: OT Need more gun laws in Chicago! - 10/31/08 04:47 PM
Guns lost in a depression have the chance of being repurchased later. Those melted down are gone for ever. Not even remotely a choice for me.
Posted By: Dave K Re: OT Need more gun laws in Chicago! - 10/31/08 06:47 PM
Jimmy,
we are far from a depression, unemployment rate is 7% (not 25% like in a depression) we have had one qtr in the last 31 with a negative GDP,that means 30 consecuctive qtrs of POSITIVE GDP growth.Lets also not forget last time I looked we have not been attacked since 9/11.And one other point reguarding the finacial mess and wall street crash, there is more then enough blame to go around, invesment bankers,CDS and rating agents like S&P but if you do your research you will see the biggest cause is the socialist rules put in by the Democrats,CRA and the Clinton administration that tried to make renters who had bad credit and NINJ loans set the boulder rolling down the path to where we are today.Raising taxes(cap gains for instance) the Democrat/Obama plan has never worked in a slowdown and will put us much closer to a depression then we are now.
