I see a lot of "English" rifles sporting a horn forearm tip. I have seen a number of German rifles which carry a horn 'rosette' on the grip cap. Is the rosette a German thing or did the English use it as well?

I ask as I am in a long-term project to build a rifle which I'd like to be more English styled and I have a horn rosette to use on something. I spent a bit of time looking through some sites and see nothing of the sort.

Thank you!

I believe the Gibbs long-range, percussion rifle use a rosette grip cap. I don't have one handi to check however.
