Just some ruminations:

Robert E. Lee made the following historical comment which has shaped my life:
. . . Do your duty in all things
. . . You cannot do more
. . . You should never wish to do less

I substitute the word "best" for "duty" these days...it's something which is easier to be understood by this generation.

There are two elements to this life philosophy
. . .- you can't do more- quit beating yourself up over the past - life is that way.
. . .- you should never do less!!! You don't quit!!

Oh...and by the way, as a corollary to the above........ROLL TIDE
ROLL TIDE...ROLL TIDE...ROLL TIDE

Nephews;

All graduated from the Capstone.

You can't understand what this meant in our history....you just don't know if you are not south from our generation.

1948 driving through southern Georgia my Mom (a liberal) would comment on burned out farms....."Those are Sherman smokestacks." 12% of the male population dead...the economy a burnt out ruin and relegated to 150 years of approbation and wave the red shirt hatred.

There is still a chip on the shoulder. And now what are the political correctness commissars going to name Fort Bragg?
