Taking this 12ga Ejector apart for cleaning but not sure what type of action this is. Coil springs in action, triggers attached to bottom plate. And is that an H&H ejector system?

It's a 1953 JP Sauer.

thanks,

Rob

These are Ernst Kerner's, Suhl, improved Anson and Deeley boxlock. By hanging the coil spring powered sear levers from the top of the action Kerner moved the sear notch as far away from the hammer's fulcrum, markedly reducing the pressure the cocked mainspring applies to the sear engagement, making for a lighter but safer trigger pull. During the 1930s Kerner's boxlock became the Suhl industry standard. The ejectors are of the Southgate override type, as are the so called Holland & Holland ones.

Why do you need to disassenbly the action ? I have always soaked it in whole peace to car motor washing detergent, let it stay there some time and after that washed it again with alcohol or acetone. At last, of course very thin oil thoroughly.

Igorrock is right here! Disassembling any Anson&Deeley type boxlock action is quite easy, but putting it back together is not as easy as "reverse order"! Gunsmithes use a special key to put back the maisprings and hammers into the action bar. Without such key and the knowledge how to use it, it is very difficult to compress the mainsprings and hammers and insert the screws holding everything together at the same time, unless you have three hands with eight fingers on each one. Trying to do so without the proper tools and knowledge results in scratched up parts. So I usually stay away from taking out hammers and mainsprings if it is not absolutely necessary because something has to be replaced/repaired.

I usually have gummy actions cleaned in an aqueous ultrasonic bath, followed by WD 40, allowed to dry, then light machine oil. The only disassembly is the bottom plate and the buttstock .

Done! cleaned in the ultrasonic with some Simple Green, rinsed in boiling water, blown dry, soaked in some Brownells Water Displacing Oil, sprayed with CRP, blown out again, a little gun grease on the appropriate surfaces and back together for the duck opener this morning.

Right now stored muzzle down but this week will take apart again and seal the head stock.

Thanks gents.
