German, circa 1880, damascus barrels with nice rifled bores (or so they say). Would such a double rifle likely use paper or rather brass cases, round balls or rather minie/conical bullets. I know it depends, but what is one likely to expect? Thanks.
With kind regards,
Jani

Paper case and happy with roundball, would likely run with catspaw (short) conical.
(first totally blind-assed guess...)

Straight grip or pistol grip?
What does it weigh?

Jani - I'd poke in there with a chamberCasting and know for sure before I'd buy it.

Figure about three drams powder and a roundball for great deer rifle!

Get photos.
Get chamber and barrel measurements.
I love the 16bore rifles.
They're wonderful.
I own and shoot two such double rifles, have owned others.

If you're not going to buy it, please ping me with the seller's information.

Cheers
Tinker

Thanks, Tinker.
Stock (wood) is straight but has fancy horn PG.
Weight unknown.
No way to make a chamber casting, not before buying.
This is an auction, and I plan to bid but who knows what happens then...
As I remember Holland & Holland advertised 16 bore double rifles for boar hunting in one of their catalogues circa 1900.
With kind regards,
Jani

Jani-

With the straight grip I'm guessing it's a light rifle - in the neighborhood of three drams and roundball.
That would make a great pig/deer/blackBear rifle!

Let us know how it goes.
Ping me a link to the auction listing, I'll keep my nose out of the bidding.

Cheers
Tinker
