Evening Gent's
I haven't posted here in a while...but check in a fair bit.Haven't had much to say.
Haven't shot my 20g rifle since I posted that 3 shot group last winter, haven't been in great form lately.
But thats neither here nor there.....
I am not realy up on rifles or rifle calibers.
By that I mean a

bolt or semi auto doesn't get me totally unwound, like a nice break open.
What is it about the hinged shotgun type action older Gun that is SO appealing?...man, they are SO COOL
So the idea of a classy older break open Single or DR certainly get the juices going, as I'm sure all here would agree.
Neither are likely in my near future..but you never know whats round the corner [watch were you tread ]
I was wondering if those who know, could throw a few calibers at me, ones that might be found in an older Single , DR or Cape-- but Calibers that can be handloaded for with available brass, or even factory ammo.
No fun to finaly luck out & stumble on a nice
piece, then find the caliber died with the Dodo bird
Thanks for any help

If you find a nice, old break-open single-shot at a good price, I would encourage you to grab it and worry about finding reloading components later. There are a couple of good books on forming brass for obsolete calibres (Donnely and Nonte) but in truth there are very few that Bertram doesn't make brass for, and there's probably still plenty of BELL brass around. Bullet molds can be made for any projectile, or a push-through resizer used to knock down a common calibre to an 'exotic' one. This generally only has to be done once to give you years of shooting.

My own Paradox plans are now on hold, due solely to finances. I found a nice .470 double that I couldn't live without, so I am now 'economically impaired' for the short to medium term!

...a happy circumstance, nonetheless! I'd rather have my money in guns than in the bank!

what for a caliber you are looking for:rifled shotgun, old british or continental europe, american, big one, medium or rook rifle. there isn't a gun that can't shot again and when you buy a old patent cartridge gun.

Hello Friends All......I am James Gates, retired from the gun and ammo companies, and owner of Dixie Slugs.
We now have two slug/bullets for the 12 bore:
(1)The Terminator-732"/740 grs solid base
(2)The Xterminator-732"/730 grs solid base
(3)The Predator-.732"/563 gr hollowbase
We offer these slugs cast in pure lead on special order. The slugs we load in our ammo is cast from bullet alloy and heat treated.
We load these slugs in 12 3" Mag @ three loadings:
Terminator@1200'/" (24" barrel)
Express@1300'/" (24" barrel)
Xterminator@1400'/" (24" barrel)
This entire project was aimed at giving today's big and dangerous game hunter a close copy of the original British 12 bore ballistics.
We have Abe Klaven, Alaska, using the Terminator (cast pure lead) in his Pedersoli
We have Dr. Charles Sharps in Coos Bay, Or. testing the Xterminator in brass hulls with Black, Triple Seven, and Pyrodex.
If Dixie Slugs can ever be of service, just let us know......James
