I have been using Nitro 100 for low-pressure 12s but can't find any and my favorite was 7625. I did see some Titewad this morning and the manufacturer does not list any low pressure loads for it. I am hoping for 3/4 oz with pressures around 5-6k. It seems to be unsuitable for use in 20s and 28s; just too hot, I think. thanks! Gil

Gil, check Hodgdon's site. I use Titewad for 7/8 & 1 oz 12 ga loads. Lots of data on their site but below are two straight from their data.

Rem hull, 7/8 oz shot, 18.7 grains, Win primer, CB 4100 wad, 7,000 psi at 1,250 fps.

Rem hull, 3/4 oz shot, 15.5 grains, Win primer, CB0175 wad, 6,700 psi, 1,150 fps.

Gil, I have been shooting 12 ga. 3/4 oz. for over 3 years now for skeet, sporting clays and some trap. I have been using Remington Gun Clubs, Claybuster CB1075-12 wads, Remington primers STS209 but now have switched over to Federal 209A's and using 1/2 gr. less powder. Loads are very nice and no misfires even in cold weather.

Here is a link to Claybuster's site and the loads listed.

Gil, 700X--which is one of the easier to find powders currently--will give you pressures in the 65-7500 psi range with 7/8 oz. Higher with 3/4. I only checked with Rem STS/Gun Club hulls, because that's all I use. Might be other hulls will give even lower pressures with both 3/4 or 7/8 oz shot.

Why is the pressure higher with 3/4oz of shot than 7/8oz? What else is changed beside the shot weight?
