Great photos of a very nice Daly Diamond grade. Priced a tad bit over my budget but still nice eye candy. (No, I don't have a dog in the fight). Looks totally original except the forend tip appears to be a replacement.

Nice find there Joe. It's really not that old being on hand in early 1893 and probably made in 1892. More than likely 2nd serial number sequence? Can't tell if the stamps are HAL over crossed pistols or a crown. So the A&D SPUN isn't present post 1892/1893?

This is a nice gun, but (too) pricey IMO. The engraving, damascus pattern, and other details are very nice, but it has some flaws - the forend tip looks to be an (incorrect) walnut replacement and there is not much CC present.

I can't make out the marking in the photos, but I would expect this gun to have the HAL over crossed pistol markings (and proof marks).

It's a pre-proof sporting weapon with the "Crown" over "V"/onhand stamps. I'll try to capture the image a bit better or maybe even ask for an image.

Ah, still can't tell but it looks to be HAL over Crossed pistols. After looking at the buttplate, I think the forend tip is original but has some odd colour after aging. Interesting that it has Made in Prussia on the side frame banner. I wonder how many sported that?

Pricey but I doubt you will come across that engraving pattern very often. So much more interesting than bulino . . . .

How are you supposed to hunt with that thing - I could never take my eyes off it long enough to pull the trigger.

It's very close kin to my little 16 bore. Looks like same hand engraved them and the barrels are cose to identical.

Joe's 16 bore

Daly #460

I'd say without reservation the same hand that performed the tap, tap, tap. My vote is for Hugo Kolb. That pyramid, or whatever, design around the border is most interesting.

Joe does yours have crosshatching or engraving on the underside of the side frame reinforcement?

Close enough that I think we'd be splitting hairs. But I will say I prefer his dog depiction over his stag. Trees are the same in both scenes and the flora might just be. Also note how the screw and area around it are all but identical.
