Details:
Scarce Parker Bros. 10 gauge DH-Grade with 34" Damascus Steel barrels and extractors on #3 frame. Serial #137432. Bores .784/.784. Choked R.045/L.045 (XF/XF). Barrel weight 6lb 3.3oz. Total weight 10lb 8.3oz. 14"1/4 LOP. 1 3/4" & 3 1/8" Drops. Original 2"7/8 chambers. Capped full pistol grip. Splinter forend. Engraved dogs and birds. European walnut stock with well-defined drop points. Silver monogram plate. Skeleton butt plate.

Condition:
Case colors remaining. Lockup is tight. Bores are excellent. Barrels ring. Some freckling and some areas of very light surface oxidation. Some of the screw heads show small signs of molestation. Lever rests at center.

History:
According to the factory letter #137432 was ordered by L.F. Whiting of Hampton, Virginia on June 29, 1906 and shipped on October 18, 1906. Special requests were to chamber for 3" shells and to shoot extra close #4 shot. The price was $100. According to the Parker Story only 16 guns were produced in this configuration.

Research:
Inquiry into L.F. Whiting shows Livingston Faison Whiting (1864-1913) born in Richmond and served as a corporal in the 4th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the Spanish-American War (May 1898-April 1899). Livingston's father was Henry Clay Whiting (1832-1899) who fought for the Confederacy with the 32nd Regiment, Virginia Infantry.

Estate collection of Dr. Jess P. Lewis (1955-2018) of Sanford, Maine.
