Answers to these Perazzi trivia questions will be gratefully received. I know they are only very minor issues but perhaps when cleaning a gun we all have sometimes wondered “I wonder what that mark means?”

1. Some Perazzi’s have the words “Acciaio Speciale” (i.e. "special steel") stamped on the underside of their barrels. I’ve recently seen 3 guns all from around the same period (mid 1980’s), one was so marked whilst the other 2 were not. Does this mean that some guns (or grades of gun) actually used a different type of steel or is it just that they were all the same but for whatever reason the marking regime was inconsistent?

2. Does anyone have a gun (Perazzi or other make) engraved by Mr Orlandi? Any information on the patterns he produced or on the engraver himself would be welcome. Marco Nobili mentions him in one of his books as does Karl Lippard but that’s all I’ve found so far regarding Orlandi.

3. What does a letter ‘L’ stamped on the flat on the underside of the bottom barrel of an MX8 signify? Ditto – a letter ‘N’ on another gun - plus a third gun has no such letter marked anyway. It's nothing to do with with proof marks or the serial number.

4. Karl Lippard is the author of the only Perazzi dedicated book which I’m aware of (although it’s a very slim volume) – is he still around & contactable?

5. Fabbri question actually: Nobili wrote a few years ago that a book on Fabbri was being written (not by Nobili). Does anyone know if it ever saw the light of day? Searches on the net have only turned up the little brochure that Lippard was involved with.
