During the last few days, I have been unable to open some photos on the BBS. A rectangular icon with a red dot appears, but no amount of left click or right click work will help open them. I don't think my computer has changed, but can any of you offer a solution ? Thanks, Daryl

As I read your post, the next post in the list is the one concerning TR's guns, and it contains several photos. I am able to see all those just fine. Is that what you are missing, the ability to see photos posted within a question?

If a DGBBS posted picture is from a website such as Photobucket.com, as most are, such picture will only be viewable in the topic as long as the URL link to such picture is valid.

If the author subsequently either moves or deletes the picture on Photobucket.com, the URL reference to the pic in the DGBBS topic is rendered invalid, and the pic will disappear from all further attempts to view it. This is usually represented by the icon and dot you describe...

This is why many older topics don't have all the original pictures in them.

Chief, that is a good example of my problem. On the TR post I can see the photos posted by Recdoc just fine, but I cannot see the photos by MP. These come up as the rectangular icon with the red dot in the center. Hmmm?

If using a computer other than your own, some work places bar photo hosting sites. If you are using your work computer this is most likely what is happening.

Daryl,
Occaisonally I have to 'wake up' the BBS photo functionality on my PC. I right click the Red X box, go to Properties, highlight the URL, copy it (press: Control + C, simuteanously) and paste the URL into my Internet Explorer address box (Control + V). If I can get to the photo directly, then it appears in the thread.

I dunno why.

OK, Mike , I am on my own computer. Can you see MPs photos on the Teddy Roosevelt thread now ? I cannot, but can see Revdoc's just fine.

Daryl,

I can see all the photos fine.

Drew's are on Picturetrail, Mike's are on Photobucket.

Here's the link to MP's first photo, see if it works for you....

Mike, I cannot open the link you list. I tried to go to my account at Photobucket and I get a page that says to be patient that they were hacked last night. Don't understand it all, but am puzzled why you can get the photos and I cannot get either photos or the site.

It does look like all of the photos I am unable to access are being hosted by the photobucket site. Daryl
