The following information comes from the book "The Ithaca Gun Company - From the Beginning" Second Edition by Walter Claude Snyder. Got my copy with a beautiful inscription from the hands of the author 29 April 2006 at the Southern Classic in Sanford NC. The Lewis model (1901-1906)came right before the Minier model. Page 292 shows a Lewis Model 1S, serial number 56631 with fluid steel barrels. The grade 1 was their lowest/entry level gun. In the Minier chapter on Pages 306, 308 and 309 we find fluid steel barrels on several pictured higher grade guns. Possibly the fluid steel barrels were available on the "stock" grade 1 version of the Minier model, but that is not stated. 2-1/2" chambering, presumably for 12 GA - I did not find any info about chamber lengths. Hope this helps.

Same ref. as Mr. Nixon on page 51 there's a pic of a 1907 price list where a No.2 Krupp is offered, so there were steel tubes. Also on page 352 Mr. Snyder gives the "chamber bores" and before August 1924, the Ithaca 12 gauge was 2 5/8" and after 2 3/4" and the same for the 16 gauge. The change for the 20 bore occured in October 1926.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

The 1907 Ithaca catalog indicates that the No. 1 Special had Cockerill steel barrels, the No. 1 Stub Twist, the No. 1 1/2 and No. 2 Damascus, the No. 2 Pigeon Krupp, No's 3 through 6 choice of Damascus or Krupp and No. 7 choice of Damascus or Whitworth. The catalog does not mention chamber length. I have two Minier models; a No. 2 and a No. 4, both 12 ga, and the chamber lengths are both 2 3/4.
