I recall a number of years ago the death of a 3 year old girl in Los Angeles county by a coyote. She was pulled out of her back yard and eaten. They were interviewing the sheriff on tv and he said that it was against the law to shoot coyotes in the county but that he had seen the body of the little girl "and noone that shoots one is going to be arrested by my department".Predators are a part of living but they must be controlled when becoming too bold around humans, unless you don't mind the idea of a bear, alligator, mountain lion or coyote making a meal out of you or your kin,all of which is possible in the US.
