A gun that has been subject to "center punched on the barrel lock extension" as most likely been subjected all sorts of other abuse also.

Call me Doubting Thomas but NID made in late 20's knocking down 100,000's rounds and still be in shooting form? Ask any serious target man about modern Browning under & over guns made with very best steels , they will go about 40,000 rounds before the locking bolt is worn out. 100,000 rounds is easily done with a modern Perrazi or Kreighoff -but with a NID??? So far no Data to back up aspersions of Fox RIP and claims of superiority of NID.

Cherry Bomb, I won't call you doubting Thomas but I will call you a Troll. Your sarcasm and snide attitude towards other board members shows no desire to learn from others but rather a desire to postition yourself (in your own mind)as the font of greater knowledge.
Where's the data? Soon as we can activate Mr. Peabody's Way Back Machine, we'll ask the origional and each subsequent owner of any gun we own for any data. Until then, we'll have to make do with our observations, experience and the written reports of those with experience. Data? There ain't any.

Go back and read posts that claim superirity of NID then ask who stirs the pot. That engraved gun pix looks very nice but proves nothing about design longevty which is the subject of this posting. Plenty of engraved guns out there that look nice. The Data I have is 3 NID's seen on clay shooting fields and all 3 were loose. Thanks somebody for downgrading my star rating. Truth hurts doesn't it?

I don't care about the data --- if it's available fine, if not, fine. There are many here that like the NID's and have had lots of success with them as well as other Ithaca guns. My 20 ga NID has been with me for a while and never failed me. Why knock a gun that you don't have "data" for --- especially since only you find the missing data really necessary ? Good board manners require not bashing a mans gun or dog.
