The Allies lost more men in a few days in Normandy than the US has lost in five years in Iraq. Fortunately, none of our 1944 politicians were so eager to throw in the towel.
Men were men in those days, even Liberals, had guts as well as brains. Now days both sides, Liberal and Conservative seem to have all too many gutless wonders who know what to say to appeal to the masses without saying anything that means squat.
