Yes, working with the junk has no doubt created an expectation of differential in performance. I'll probably pattern the remainder thru a skeet choke next week. I still think that the deformation of soft shot on first firing is interesting for what it says about our expectations of what we don't see (that cheap chilled shot should be good enuf for most target purposes). Really, all the questions and variables are tied to what I gathered up on a local trap range. If there were less parsimonious reloaders and more participants shooting factory boxed ammo (which, we are told, has a high antimony content), I'd be getting higher percentage of undeformed. Still, it SHOULD be good enuf, even optimum, for skeet but I don't think it is.

Maybe the next step would be to give to an unknowing shooter a box of "these very special and efficient shells" to try out and see how he does with them.

JC, they would belie the hype with shot in the crimp. Have to get the wad hgt right and drop an actual ounce (and probably have to take em out after the shot drop and shake to compact the shot which would get me back to the pt. where the powder would burn completely. I didn't ask Lenard about the source/quality (tumbled to roundness, sorted) of his reclaimed. Mention of shot from wheelwts. suggests that either he or commercial producer was smelting and making new shot from "reclaimed" lead. If so, different animal!
