When new the Remmingtom models 1894 & 1900 were priced in the same range as Parkers and other American first quality doubles. In my opinion the side-by-sides from Ilion, New York are in no way inferior to their Connecticut cousins.

As I understand it the model 1894 and 1900 shotguns with Damascus barrels were originally proof tested with smokeless powder. Thus if in good condition they might be safe to shoot with modern low pressure loads.
