I feel like the youngest son of a poor Duke when I have the Purdey in my hands.
Aw come on jOe, it has some coolness to it. Probably THE James Purdey worked on it some when it was hand built in 1847. The barrel tubes were handmade by "beat and heat" out of strands of steel and iron. Then it was sent back to Purdey and converted to a breechloader by Purdey fifty years later - again by hand. And then 120 years after that it shows up in Amarillo in my gunsafe. The engraving on the locks is 160 years old and that of the action 120. And all for $1,475?
I took it out and shot some Skeets with it Saturday - 160 year old tubes and locks and all.
But yes, I always feel different after I buy a shotgun. I feel Buyer's Remorse and I feel desperation to try to find some way to stop buying shotguns; but then I return to my senses and start surfing the gun dealer websites.
Best,
Mike
