Beretta 390, sporting clays, gold/silver. It's also the gun I shoot least, preferring to shoot my SxS guns.

Britsh Sixteen Boxlock (Gallyon) at game. Beretta ASE90 Gold XTrap at clays. I might shoot the ASE90 at game better but as it weighs 8-1/2 pounds I have never taken it quail hunting.

Best,

Mike

For both upland work and sporting clays, it's been an 1890 Westley Richards 'BQ' boxlock 12 bore w/30" damascus tubes. Choked only at .001" and .003" it gives really nice IC patterns with today's plastic wadding. This gun has seen approx. 3,000 rounds a year of low-pressure stuff for the past fifteen years and has only needed a replaced ejector spring. This will no doubt anguish ol' Lowell with his low opinion of Westley's, but it has been a real dependable favorite here.

As much as it pains me to admit, as much as I would REALLY like to say I shoot one of my vintage SxSs best, it is just not the case. Even worse, if really pressed, I would have to give the slight edge to my 391 (auto) target gun over my Beretta ASE (O/U). Of course neither of these are field guns. (The is not an especially fair comparison as the SxSs are not fitted, dedicated target guns; I shoot lighter loads in the vintage guns, etc.).

I WANT to to shoot the SxSs better, but just don't. Still that doesn't keep me from shooting them regularly. For most of the shooting I do, the difference in performance is not an issue and I enjoy shooting the SxSs more.

I guess in all honesty, I'll have to second Ken's response. If it's really important to hit something, I'd rather have my old 12ga Rem. 11-87 in hand...Geo

I'm the same, I don't shoot any of my SxS guns particularly well as my friends will attest. Though I shoot them for nearly all my game and target gunning.

I did some tremendous work last year out on the lake with my 1st year Remington Autoloading Shotgun believe it or not. I think that gun will see more action this coming season the Good Lord willing.

OK, OK .... I'm another one with a 10 year old 11-87 SC that makes me look better than I am at any kind of clays. In the field my BSS 20 26" PG or 12G NID 30" are always the pick. My latest addition, an F Lefever hasn't had a true test yet ... but it feels good and hits mostly where I point it .... I need to add a slip-on pad for an extra 1/2" or so and then it might give the NID a rest.

My favorite gun is a Hollis Bentley and Playfair 12 bore. About 6 1/2# I had to put a wood stock extension on it to get the pull I need. When I first used it, I hit a couple of birds [pheasants] that I thought, when I pulled the trigger, I had missed. I also enjoy the engraving when my GWP and I have a time out.

Parker VHE 20ga 28" barrels. Don't know if the gun fits me or I fit the gun after using it almost exclusively for hundreds of desert quail, mourning and white wing dove, huns, and pheasants in SD for 30 years but when it is time to get serious that is the one to pull out of the safe.

Although I have "given it" to my son, (because he likes it, too) I have to say Ithaca SKB 20 ga. 200E. It is definitely a point and shoot. I noticed it's not the only one mentioned.

I am shooting mostly 16 ga. now(going back to my roots). I have several I enjoy shooting, and am having the gun I have never hit with, fit to me.

I bought a 16 ga. model 21 with two triggers 30+ years ago and could not hit the side of a barn from the inside with all the doors closed. I decided to either sell it or get it to where I can hit with it. I decided to have it fit to me and am looking forward to it being my "go to" gun. I sure do hope it works.
