Out of all of your guns, which one do you shoot the best? Whether you are shooting clays, hunting birds or squirrels......... which gun that you have makes you feel really confident just knowing you have it to shoot with?

I have a 16ga Westley Richard made in 1886 that fits me perfectly. Because it fits so well, my hit percentage is much higher than other guns that I own. I use it for birds only.

My 20g, 32", 525 Browning hits most things I point it at, probably more than any other gun, and my BSS 20g, 28" pistolgrip is a close second. But, I haven't given my newly stocked (to my dims) Parker and Fox fair chance yet.

I was going to say my
"16 ga NID, 28" barrels but they must have been cut back from 30", they're marked M&F but are Cyl/IC. Just on pheasants but I shoot it best."
But after thinking it over I shoot most guns the same, the real difference is in the head. Some days I shoot better than others no matter the gun (as long as it within the ballpark of modern dimensions). In 2006 all I shot was a Rem. M17 with a 26" IC barrel. Shot just as well as with the NID. When instinct takes over and I point, not aim, I shoot well. Some days I can't miss. Most days I miss a fair amount.
My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income. - Errol Flynn

My game gun is an old perc. 14ga. SxS. For me, it is deadly. It is the only gun I have hunted with for several years now. Cyl. bores not to good for trap though.

The shotgun I hit better with than any other I've used was a J P Clabroug 12ga 28" Damascus SLNE ¼/¼ chokes. Use was birds & rabbits. For the same purposes the gun with which I did the "WORST" of all was a 20ga 870 fitted with a Poly Choke having length including ventilated sleeve of 27". For squirrels I was mostly a .22 rimfire man but amazingly the rifle with which I piled up the vast majority of the little tree rats over the years was an old Mossberg model 42-MC bolt action with a 7-shot clip. I allowed a co-worker too much on it in a trade for something I had he wanted, & since I couldn't get my money back I just shot it out of it. My experience here was I could use standard velocity LR's (mostly "Canuck" by CIL) & sit myself by a big shagbark hickory or sprawling white oak the squirrels were working, pop one in the head & let him lay where he fell. By the time he would hit the ground the others were already back to cutting. The "Crack" of a Hi-Vel LR would generally clear the tree with the first shot. While that little Mossberg would not likely have won many, if any, shooting matches it would hold "Minute-of-Squirrel head" any time of the day, any day of the week.

I shot more 100 straights with my Remington Model 3200 28-inch barrel Skeet-Master tube set then any other gun I've owned. However after years of not using it I tried it for Winter League this year and posted my worst scores ever. The only 28-gauge 100-straight I ever shot was with my 28-gauge Winchester Model 23 Classic?!? I posted 100-straights with 12- and 20-gauge Model 12s before I went to the 3200. For upland game my 1914-vintage Ansley H. Fox A-grade 12-gauge with 28-inch Krupp barrels and a straight grip is the hands down winner.

SKB 20ga Model 500 IC/M. I'm convinced its potency comes from a perfect fit and the notion I can't miss with it. I think confidence gets rid of aiming.
Miller, I still have my Mossberg Model 42B, bought 1942, with peep and tube magazine, a tack-driver. I don't hunt with it now, too heavy; use the splendid Rem s/a 552.
