Bingo! That is certainly it. After I read your post I measured the wall thickness at the end of chambers (towards the muzzle) and they are 0.075". Joe Wood reached the same conclusion last week when we were talking about the gun before it arrived today.

I am going to send Purdey an email and see what they can tell me about the gun. It would sure tickle me if they reply they did the conversion.
