I am from the school of thought that the .410 is fine on pen raised quail and small size game birds. However I don't feel its an ethical hunting tool for wild upland game. Thats my opinion. I have made some great shots with a .410 and said wow I can do that. But I am still not going to hunt wild birds with nothing less then a 28 gauge. I would not take my 30-06 to hunt Cape Buffalo even thought with the right shot I know I could down it.
