I don't have any problem with rich people; I'd like to be one:)

My point is just that $49K means very little to some people.

I like to think (I could be wrong) that if I had $49K I wouldn't spend it on a Repro. There's a lot more a person can do with $49K.

1M89,
I think there's more to the story than either of us know. I do think there is some lineage to Parker with this o/u design, I just don't know.

Do they call the Galazan built Fox a Repro?
I don't consider the Galazan built, and Remington sold Parker a reproduction. Just my opinion.

Here's how I see it - the gun was produced, then it went out of production. Not for just a while, but many decades. All the good people who built it are dead and gone. The Meriden shop is gone. The tooling is gone.

There is no way you can avoid the label 'reproduction' under those terms. Further, the new $49K gun is being reproduced on the same floor as Foxes...I am sure your average Meriden employee would barf at that.

The gun may look the same but dare I say it....it doesn't have the soul of a real Parker Bros. gun.

The Galazan built Parker will have just as much soul 100 years from now, as the Meriden built Parker has now.

Nah....besides we'll all be dead by then!

I think Parker soul was created out of the times in which they were built. It came from hand drawn files, German speaking immigrants, Damascus tubes delivered by horse draw carriage. It came from the hush that swept the plant in 1912 when they heard the Titanic sank. It came from the customers who saved for 2 years and wore holes in their shoes so they could buy a V Grade. It came from their hand rolled cigarettes, lawnmowers with no safety labels, and sweat. It came from lamp black and trees grown before the Civil War. It came from people who cared about what they were doing. Though we might to, we can't recreate Parker soul anymore than we can shake Abe Lincoln's hand.

Will today's Parker Repro get its soul from a CNC machine operated by a guy who drove a Suburban with a Nav system and who ate babyback ribs at Chili's every Tuesday? Will it get its soul from Made in China drill bits and ozone-friendly lightbulbs? Will its soul come from the fact that all Joe can do is wait to clock out so he can get beer and watch the football game?

You can't manufacture soul...it creeps in on its own.

"Mr. Galazan is building Winchester Model 21's that he bought the rights to."

Tony is building Model 21 shotguns without the Winchester name. For a Winchester branded Model 21 you will need a license from Olin which still owns the Winchester name and your cost will be about the cost of the Remington Parker or more. In any event the Model 21 Tony builds is as good as any Model 21 Winchester or USRAC ever built. I suspect that the Parker he builds is the same as the Fox is also.-Dick

From a friend that has had many of the Win 21's and several of the CSM 21's, he says the CSM 21 is a better built gun in several specific areas.
