I confess that I find it irritating. The loss of image width is the only real issue. Is there any chance we could have it on the thread index page and not on the page that displays a specific thread? That would seem to be the best of all worlds. Glenn I agree, if we must have it could we keep it on the front page only so no loss when we open a thread. For the record, I never use the search (only one search allowed), I don't care who is online, I don't care about the stats and although I'm retired I do know what day it is.

Now I know there are 7690 members, but only 7662 topics. Those 28 guys who have not chosen a topic should get busy.

I like that Dave is working to improve his site for us. Dave is on my list of truly good guys. Were we supposed to comment on the changes?

Dave is most definitely on my list of good guys, as well. This site is my absolute favorite and most enjoyable place to spend my Internet time. That doesn't mean, however, that I'm not free to voice my opinions about certain aspects of how it operates. I don't like being limited to only one search. I don't like the wheeling/dealing and other comments being allowed on the classified page. That business should be conducted privately, IMO. And I don't like this far-left intrusion on the main forum page. I am a fan, a monetary supporter of the site and my comments will appear when I see the need.

Well, since we're commenting on it, I would prefer that the added menu's be on the lead page only and the forum pages remain as they were. But, I can live with it as is by closing out my Favorites menu column that I keep open most of the time and giving me more screen room.

OK...I figured out how to let you guys turn off the left column inside the individual forums...However, the left column will always display on the Main Index page.
Make sure you are logged in...go to:
Top of page... my stuff> my preferences> In preferences look for check box titled turn off left column. Check the box! Then go to bottom of same page and click submit button. (don't forget this part.)
That should nail it shut for those who don't want to se it in the forum view.
