I shoot regularly with some of the best shots in the country...one even won in the Olympics (Flintlock shotgun).
I'm not that good a shot...put a gun with 3 inches of drop in their hands and I'll bet on me beating them.

Don't fool yourself...Good shooting and gun fit go hand in hand.

My main gun is in the ballpark, and is good enough that I wouldn't spend a dime on having it fitted to me.
Bet Shack wouldn't know if the hoop was an 1/8 of a inch off, one way or the other.

If I could shoot like Tom Knapp, I wouldn't need a stock since he shoots most of his trick shooting off the shoulder.

Greg, 3" is not within 1/8" of drop of what most people shoot. If it were, I'd agree that it probably wouldn't make a lot of difference. But you're talking about 1/2", not 1/8". Big difference.

Homeless Joe, in which Olympics did your friend win the flintlock shotgun event? Far as I know, no such Olympic event exists, or ever has existed.

I went and looked at my sheet of all Parkers I have and have owned. With the exception of one hammer gun from 1882, none have a drop of 3" - all are less. Keep in mind I bought them all with no regard to stock drop.

Think about your body, then think of 1/2" - it's hardly anything.

If you took the world's best skeet shooter, or clays shooter, and gave him only one gun with 3" drop to shoot...in a week or shooting he'd be just as good as he was with 2" drop.

I had never heard of it either...but that doesn't mean it didn't exist.

I've saw his medals and vaguely remember the story in the Memphis Commercial Appeal. It was in the World Olympics in the 1970's I believe he also won medals in the original Flintlock pistol competition. His name is Ed Mason another Memphis Gunsmith competed also, Mr. HySmith.

I wish I was the worlds best skeet shooter.

But, as it is, I'm just a mediocre skeet shooter and my dog won't even roll over anymore.

Get a gun with 3 inches of drop and you could be.
