I agree, I love Canada and it's people. We as American's, are kind of behind the 8 ball, when it comes to knowing our nothern neighbor. The Canadian's know more about us, then we seem to know about them. If I couldn't live here, I would love to live there.

One of the things I see about the outdoor climate in Canada, is the same thing we have here, the press. We used to make yearly trips to the area east of Peterbrough, Ontario. Had a beautiful lake that you had to carry your boat into to fish, since there was no other way in. Only a narrow 2 track "road" went in. Then the magazines editors found this prestine lake and wrote a story about it. This was about in 1982. In a very few short years, there was a wide paved road and boat ramp to the lake. A time spent fishing on the 10 mile long lake, fishing all by yourself, was now shared with a zoo of bass boats and the trash carried in by all these "sportsman". The fishing went south as the preasure went north. We no longer go.

It is the same here though. The people who write the outdoor stories, have encouraged the population to go to certan areas for recreation. That area then becomes over run, until it is ruined. Locally here, all a person had to do was ask permission to hunt or fish, and as a local, I still can. But it is changing. The outdoor writers have encouraged the leasing of ground, for recreation. Not in itself is that a bad thing. But it has made it a "money" thing for the poor versus comfortably healed, to find a place to outdoor recreate. Soon you will either own the property you hunt on or pay a pretty healthy fee to be on it. It then limits, the number of people who are voters to maintain our outdoor and gun rights. Since, it you can't afford to do it, you don't care. It has now become a circle. If you can't afford to pay to play, you become a tresspasser. The wrath of every landowner is upon you and rightfully so.

I am in this group. I now own the ground I hunt on. I don't ever have to look over my shoulder and there better be no one else there but me, my family or my invited friends. 25 yrs. ago, this wasn't the case. The word was out in the press, you either own it, or pay to play on it. In a sense,I have become my own enemy.
