Any opinions or actual experience with this maker's SxS guns?
I understand that he had some O/U patents and worked until 1929, but I know little else.
Any information about Green or his guns would be appreciated.

There is a comprehensive review of E.C.Green, history, patents and guns on this site which is still available for review. The posting date was 07/02/08

Roy: I'd be very interested in the information from those previous posts.
I am also looking for anyone who owns(ed) one, who has been inside one and give me a determination of their overall quality.
He seems to have been a very good provincial maker, but little first hand information exists.

Guns made by E.C.Green are of best quality, I have a Green O/U. S.L.E. 12.G.. which is equal in quality to London best. Purdey made their early O/U using the Green Patent Action. However Green like many others also sold guns made by others for sale at a lower cost. Pictures would help to identify source of the gun you are interested in. Hope Daryl is able to restore the earlier postings on Green.

According to my"Old" engraver friend, who has the most amazing "Shoe-Boxes" full of Hisorical Facts....His Former Gaffer" Harry Kell engraved many Guns for the Edwinson & Green Gunmakers..I think "007's Armorer wrote about this fact in several of his Articals & Books. "Hunts Archives" (Out of the shoe-boxes) would be British Gunmaking History!!!cc/dt

Mark, check your emails I have sent you the full history. I think if Westley Richards ask if they can use one of your patents, build a gun for an International Trade Fair and win a Gold medal, If Purdey buy your O/U patent off you and John Roberts asks you to make round action Boss guns for him, you may, just may, be able to say 'builder of fine quality guns' then again I have been wrong on numerous occassions.
