Wnen you say barrel slots, are they vertical, four in number, and on each barrel? My Comp-1(SC1T) has them on the skeet barrels. The barrels have a bore of .725 and then open at the slots and then tighten for the last two inches. That is the "Tula" choke that was used by Perazzi some years ago.

As far as I know, the MX4 has the MX8 action but the action sides are ground flat to reduce weight. I had an MX4C with factory screw-in chokes and a drop out trigger and the nicest wood you ever saw. I bought it in England years ago and sold it, it was a bit light to shoot all day. I have never seen a MX4 in Canada or the US, seems they were made for the European market, hence the nice wood, the Europeans will not tolerate the treated fencepost wood on P guns sold this side of the pond Mike

William: Three or four horizontal, elliptical slots, pointed at both ends, in the rib between the barrels and ahead of the forearm.
Mike: This wood is rather plain, with little figure, and a small crack running into the pistol grip from the trigger slot.
I must admit some hesitation about buying a gun that so few (including gunsmiths) are familiar with, and from a maker with a rather confusing array of models and variations. Brownings and Berettas I understand ... if you know what I mean. Thanks for the input. TT

TT, Perazzis are what they are because of they way they shoot combined with the standardization of a high end gun. If the gun has MX-8 type barrels and a drop out trigger it is just another variation. The "slots" you are describing are called side ribs and they are common on many P-guns such as the MX-8. The MX-3 (and Mx-3 special which fits all MX-8 type barrels) had no mid rib. The barrels were separated much like a Remington M-3200. Most modern barrels are separated under the forend and have side ribs in front as you describe.
If the gun has drop out triggers and feels good, buy it.
I love my old doubles, but for serious shooting, nothing beats a Perazzi. And, 2,500 is a good price on one which has not been messed with.
Oh, and I agree that a call to Giacomo is a good idea.
Regards, Jake

Thanks, Jake and All: The gun was bought out from under me this weekend. Strange the way those things work, as the dealer has had it for several years (although never displayed at less than $3,000, and quite a bit more than that for a couple of years). He who hesitates ... still has money to buy something else, I guess. Anyway, thank to all for the advice. Maybe it will help the guy who bought it. TT
