Thanks for all the kind comments about the gun. I think I will take it out tomorrow for trap if it's not raining. This is off topic but I got a leg of muttin(?) case with it that needs cleaned up a bit. Any suggestions?

The leg o' mutton is a bonus that you failed to mention or give a pic in addition to the pics of the Kreighoff w/ the humpback/raised comb.

Kind Regards,

Drew; thanks for those links. I'll pick up something to try. Raimey, I didn't think that the case was a big deal. It was cool to get though. It's not original to the gun. It's marked Lyon & Coulson Buffalo NY. I don't even know what these are worth but thought 80 - 100 dollars. It was a nice bonus like you said. My first one. Much smaller than the aluminum cases I have.

that is a "typical" Bavarian styled stock. And I bet the chokes are indeed full and fuller. Nice gun!

I shot a round of trap today. The right barrel will not fire. I hear a click when I pull the trigger and it recocks when I open it but it doesn't make a mark in the primer. I used snap caps before I bought it and everything sounded good but never thought to put tape over the primer to see if it broke it. Once I figured where the gun was shooting I broke 13 of the last 15 which is good for me. Can anyone venture a guess to my problem and where I might get it fixed and what something like that would cost? I have a call to the guy I bought it from but won't here from him until Tues.(hopefully)
Thanks Tom

Did you try to shoot it looking vertical and what does the end of the firing pin look like w/ the hammers tripped(may require a horn block or something to stop the strikers)?

Kind Regards,

Raimey; I know I should always cock the hammers on my Lc Smith or it is a bear to get back together. It is almost impossible to get back together without damaging it without manually cocking the hammers. Are these guns like that and if so how would I do that? Or is it not a problem?
Are you saying, take it apart, get a block of wood, hold it against the reciever, fire it, then see what the firing pins are doing? Then the piring pins should be loose and go in and out right? Sorry about this I just don't want to get myself in a jam. Will I need to cock the hammers before I put it back together? Thanks for the help

Tom:

On a sidelock with the locks off, it is possible to cock the hammers but with a boxlock it wouldn't be that easy. Disassembly would probably be required. Try this: insert the snaps caps and drop the hammers. 1st see how difficult it is to remove the forend. If it is firm, try to slightly breech the double and hopefully with a light you might get a glimpse of the ends of the strikers. If you do take the forend off with the hammers down, the resistance to re-attach will also be more.

Is there a mark on the right extractor where the firing pin may have scraped it?

Also, put tape over the holes w/ the snap caps, hold it vertical and drop the hammers.

Kind Regards,

Raimey
