What is the grade of this Greener? Is it a FH 25?

Sorry, can't help you Joe, but they're nice photos - how did you set it up?

Engraving not the same as the FH25 pictured on the next page, but pretty close. FH25 would be my guess. Not noted on the bottom tang, or maybe worn off? Greener grades were often (always?) marked there I think.

Mr. Brown:

What would "Grade P.D.R. T15" be on the triggerbow of a Greener? I think I'm recalling it correctly from memory.

Got a response from Graham Greener--it's a FH25 completed in 1920.

Cadet, wish I could accept the compliment on the photos but I didn't take them--copied from the internet. Looks to me as though they have diffused lighting and a background that doesn't reflect light.

Evidently, the last number must have been the price in pounds when the model was introduced. As from a 1921 Greener Double Rifle catalogue:

Grade R.G.T. 125 - "G" System Ejector w/ Whitworth @ price of 131

Grade R.L.T. 125 - sidelock @ price of 131 5

Grade R.F.H.T. 100 - "F.H." Ejector rifle on "Facile Princeps" @ price of 105 pounds

Grade R.D.T. 50 - "Box-Lock" @ a price of 52 pounds

Grade R.D.B.T. 30 - Minature 0.310 Bore @ a price of 31 pounds

Grade R.D.B.T. 15 is what I'm curious about.

Kind Regards,

Raimey, you're right--at least originally. The number was the price in pounds--or close enough for government work. DH stood for Deeley Hammerless; FH for Facile Princeps Hammerless.

Joe, looks like you're chasing a gun Cabela's has. Thought those photos looked familiar. If the weight they list is correct, that's one unusually light Greener.

Joe-
Mr. Wood -

I looked at that one. I just couldn't convince myself that the stock on it is original. A friend of mine agreed. He questioned those side panels (their shape is unusual) and wondered if the wood was Black Walnut.

Did Mr. Greener say the gun came with a straight stock?

Thanks

OWD

OWD, Greener had little information about the gun. No weight was recorded. I too thought the stock and especially the checkering looked strange. What did you think about it otherwise?

Larry, you and I both know that half to three quarters of a pound can be added to stated weight. Golly, you'd think they could get a $10 fish scale and do a better job on weight!

LB,
I'm open to correction on this, but I thought that the F was the grade and that the H denoted ejectors?? Now that I think about it, was the figure not guineas rather than pounds? Who borrowed my Greener book??
K.
