Gentlemen:
I am doing a Parker Reproduction A-1 Special engraving project and am in need of some photos to get some ideas. I'd like to keep the engraving appropriate to a Parker, but would still like to add a litte artistic flair. If you gentlemen have any photos of orignal Parkers, or Reproductions that you could post , PM me, or refer me to, I would be very thankful.
Thanks in advance!

IM, there are two A-1 Repros on the Cabela's website. One is a standard engraving job (the 12ga); someone had a custom job done on the 20.

The Doublegun Journal had an article with a couple dozen pictures of several AH Parkers. I have two copies of that particular issue. If you want you can have it. Please PM me your address or email me - mike(at)quality-mechanical.ws

IM,

I would highly suggest that you beg, borrow, or buy a copy of Vol.1 The Parker Story by Gunther, Mullins, Parker,Price and Cote. This book has many close-up color pictures of Parker guns of the grades that you are asking about. The book is not cheap but it is the definitive source.

Here is another picture of that AHE 16ga. I can get closer shots if you need them. Paul [img][/img]

If your engraver can handle it, I would recommend studying the DGJ article that pictured Jim Hall's 16 gauge A-1 Special. It is a fairly recent article, authored by Jim Hall if I remember correctly. There is not a better A-1 Special of the early style out there. It is one scary gun. Congratulations to Jim on his gun and on his article.

Jim Nixon in IL has done several A1 upgrades and knows enough not to add metal to get the three beads. I guess JB Patton would know if he is still at it. I have seen his work on this forum but it feels like the fellows in IL are keeping him hidden away.

Jimmy is not fond of these A-1 upgrade projects! "Kicking and screaming" are a couple of words that come to mind.........

He did do a sweeeeet rendition of the notable Winston Churchill/ Jerry Fisher? VHe 28 g full custom job that was pictured in SDH book though...much more to his way of doing things- (by the way- he is busy now and cannot be bothered.................) Pay no attention to Bill Schodlatz- we will let Jimmy go when we receive the ransom.
- best regards,
JBP
