I looked at the ad you posted, however, not at the 23. I noticed the Weatherby Athena V at $2500.

Gunbroker, and other sites, are awash in these guns, some NIB, at $1600-2000, with nary a single bid.

My thought was your friend had his guns priced at beyond high retail.
